Israel has too many government ministers. Ministries are awarded to the various political parties as incentives (bribes) to join the coalition. But because there are so many small parties in Israel, lots of "incentives" need to be made in order to make the coalition. Having so many ministries is a total waste of money and obstructs the effective management of the government.
We propose reducing the number of Israeli ministries, currently 26, to only 7. Each ministry should be run by experienced, competent, and professional people. In an ideal world, government ministers cannot serve as MKs at the same time.
Switzerland only has 7 ministries and their government is very efficient. Israel should learn from Switzerland and reduce its 26 ministries into 7 using the Swiss model. This "simple" idea will save Israeli taxpayers billions of shekels each and every year.
